The Big Barn
2016
Lorem ipsum dolor set amet. The client is both a sommelier and gastronome and wanted a building that was contemporary, clearly a working farm, and expressive of all things involved in the making and enjoyment of wine.
This copy is temporary and not real copy. Taken off alternate website. Located on a bedrock of limestone with a gentle southern slope, the property presented an ideal location for a vineyard. The solution was part production facility, part residence, and part banquet hall. Set into the hill, the building rests on the limestone bench that gives the wine of this region their unique taste. The exposed bedrock forms the threshold over which each visitor passes. Overhead a steel shed roof arches over the production hall, covered courtyard, and residence and provides a unifying element which ties the different parts of the building together with a clean agrarian look.
